Specially developed for flexible use on construction sites and in the workshop, oxygen monitors make it easier to weld stainless steel, as the oxygen concentration can be displayed. Before measurements of the welding environment are made, the respective device must be calibrated according to the normal concentration of oxygen in the air (20.9%). It does this by pumping clean air to the oxygen sensor. The calibration of the oxygen monitor should then be tried out by pumping a small amount of the forming gas into the instrument. The meter maintains the calibration even if the device is switched off in the meantime. It must be ensured that the calibration is repeated at regular intervals. The instrument has built-in temperature compensation to guarantee reliable measurement results at the respective working temperature. Large, unexpected changes in temperature can alter measurement results until the probe temperature stabilizes.
