With our pipe purge systems, aluminium pipe stoppers, oxygen monitors, welding masking tapes and water-soluble foils, you can quickly and easily form stainless steel tubes and thus protect the weld seam from oxidation and scaling.
Before welding stainless steel pipe, it is recommended to pre-form the workpiece. The pipe purge process has been carried out in welding technology, in TIG, MIG, MAG welding, for over 40 years and contributes to an improved quality of the weld seams. If the purging process of stainless steel is carried out correctly, rework can become superfluous. The weld seam root and the heat-affected zone are flushed with shielding gas, while the oxygen-containing atmosphere is displaced at the same time. This process is also called root protection. If welding is carried out without prior forming, the root can oxidize and the material of the workpiece becomes porous or rusty. In the case of materials such as titanium or magnesium, it is even necessary to form them in advance, as these materials are sensitive to gases.
